Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center

You need a night that feels like permission to stop worrying and just enjoy yourself. Mamma Mia! delivers exactly that: a story about love, friendship and identity on a Greek island, told through the songs of ABBA. It's a musical designed to make you feel something light, something warm, something that reminds you why live theater matters. Des Moines Civic Center hosts the production on Sunday, May 9, 2027, at 6:30 PM, and it's the kind of evening that gives you exactly what you came for.

ABBA's music carries decades of emotion, nostalgia and irresistible energy. Mamma Mia! takes those songs and weaves them into a story that honors friendship, complicated family ties, and the search for identity. Watching actors bring that music to life onstage creates a different experience than hearing the songs alone. You get the story, the performance, and the shared reaction of everyone around you.

This is the show to bring your mom, your best friend, or the person in your life who deserves a night out that isn't complicated. Let someone else create the joy while you sit back and soak it in. Theater works when it reminds you that feeling good is allowed. Explore tickets for Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center and claim an evening for yourself.
