Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center

Some stories work best when you're not experiencing them alone. Mamma Mia! builds a tale of love, friendship and identity on a Greek island through the songs of ABBA, and sharing that evening with someone who appreciates the music or just needs a night of pure joy makes the whole thing better. Saturday, May 8, 2027, at 2:00 PM, Des Moines Civic Center hosts this musical, and it's the kind of afternoon that reminds you why live theater still matters.

ABBA's catalog carries decades of emotion, nostalgia and melody that refuses to fade. Mamma Mia! takes those songs and weaves them into a story where characters grapple with questions that feel universal: who they are, who they love, and what happens when the past shows up uninvited. The music you've always known becomes the soundtrack to someone else's turning point, and that shift from recording to living narrative is what makes theater worth attending.

This is the show to see with your mother, your best friend, or the person in your life who still believes in happy endings. Make a plan with someone who deserves an afternoon that feels like celebration. Choose a musical afternoon together. Find tickets for Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center.
