Mamma Mia!
Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center
ABBA wrote songs that refuse to fade. Mamma Mia! takes that catalog and builds a story around it, one about love, friendship and identity unfolding on a Greek island. Wednesday, May 5, 2027, at 7:30 PM, Des Moines Civic Center hosts the musical that lets you experience those familiar melodies in a different context, through a live theatrical story. This is not a concert appearance by ABBA. It's a musical that trusts the songs to carry the narrative weight.
The plot centers on questions that matter: Who am I? Where do I come from? What do I owe the people I love? Theater works when it makes you feel something beyond admiration for the production, and Mamma Mia! delivers emotion through music you already care about. Hearing those songs performed live, woven into a story about family and choices, gives them fresh meaning without diminishing the joy they've always carried.
Bring someone who lights up when ABBA comes on. Bring the friend who deserves an evening that feels like permission to enjoy yourself without apology. Or claim the night for yourself and spend it with music that has earned its place in your life.
