Mamma Mia!

Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center

ABBA's music has a way of sticking with you. The melodies, the lyrics, the sheer optimism woven into songs that somehow feel both epic and personal. Mamma Mia! takes those songs and builds a story around them, a tale of love, friendship and identity set on a Greek island. It's a musical, not a concert, but the music is what you came for, and it gives ABBA’s music a storytelling role. Thursday, May 6, 2027, at 7:30 PM, Des Moines Civic Center hosts a story built on the soundtrack of your life.

The plot follows a young woman on the eve of her wedding, searching for answers about her past while navigating the chaos of family, friendship and self-discovery. The story is warm, funny and just complicated enough to feel real. The music carries the emotion, and if you've ever sung along to ABBA in the car or at a party, you have a personal starting point for hearing familiar melodies through a theatrical story.

Bring someone who remembers when ABBA ruled the charts. Bring someone discovering them for the first time. Let the music do what it does best: make you feel something. Turn a shared love of ABBA into a theatre plan. Check ticket options for Mamma Mia! at Des Moines Civic Center.
