A Christmas Carol

A Christmas Carol at Stoner Studio Theater - Des Moines Performing Arts

Scrooge doesn't soften easily. That's what makes his transformation worth watching. Iowa Stage Theatre Company presents Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol at Stoner Studio Theater in Des Moines on Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 7:30 PM, and the story remains as sharp as ever: a bitter man visited by three ghosts on a single December night, forced to confront everything he's buried. This adaptation leans on movement, music and fresh storytelling perspectives to bring the tale forward without losing the bite.

The story works because redemption isn't guaranteed. Scrooge earns his second chance one ghost at a time, from the weight of Christmas Past through the cold truth of Christmas Yet to Come. Following that arc can turn a familiar seasonal tale into a personal question. Can someone that closed-off actually change?
