Ballet Des Moines: The Nutcracker
Ballet Des Moines: The Nutcracker at Hoyt Sherman Place Theater
Make space for Clara’s story in a busy December. Ballet Des Moines presents The Nutcracker at Hoyt Sherman Place Theater in Des Moines on Sunday, December 13, 2026, at 1:00 PM, set to Tchaikovsky's score and featuring the Heartland Youth Choir. Clara and her Nutcracker come to life in a production designed for the people who call this city home. This is the kind of performance that becomes part of how your family marks the season.
Tchaikovsky's music carries the story forward, providing a familiar musical thread. The Heartland Youth Choir adds voices to a score that already feels like December, and gives you another element to follow alongside the dancers. A ballet outing invites you to pay attention to movement and expression as parts of the storytelling.
Bring the child who's never seen a ballet. Bring the parent who grew up attending Nutcracker and wants to pass it forward. Bring the friend who appreciates live music as much as dance. Explore tickets for Ballet Des Moines: The Nutcracker at Hoyt Sherman Place and share a Sunday afternoon with Clara and her Nutcracker.
