Just in Time

Just in Time at Des Moines Civic Center

Bobby Darin's music carries weight if you grew up hearing it or discovered it later and wondered how one voice could move between swing, rock, folk and jazz without losing itself. Just in Time builds a musical around that life and catalog, telling Darin's story through the songs that defined his too-short career. Friday, August 27, 2027, at 7:30 PM, Des Moines Civic Center hosts a theatrical production that honors the man and the music without pretending either one was simple.

A familiar recording can be a starting point, while the stage story offers a reason to look more closely at the person behind it. That restlessness makes him interesting. A musical built around his catalog has room for romance, ambition, vulnerability and defiance. Theater gives those songs context and lets you hear them as chapters in a larger story.

Bring someone who remembers when Darin was everywhere, or someone who only knows the hits and wants to understand the artist behind them. Let the stage do the storytelling while the music does what it's always done: make you feel something.
