The Phantom of the Opera

The Phantom of the Opera at Des Moines Civic Center

Music can give a difficult emotion a voice. The Phantom of the Opera remains one of the most emotionally charged pieces of theater ever created, built on obsession, longing, and the kind of love that consumes rather than comforts. Andrew Lloyd Webber's music doesn't just accompany the story—it becomes the heartbeat of it, sweeping and haunting in equal measure. Friday, March 5, 2027, at 7:30 PM, Des Moines Civic Center hosts a production that honors Maria Björnson's original design while bringing a revitalized staging to the tour.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s music gives this theatrical story its emotional center. For listeners who know the work through recordings, a performance offers another way to follow the relationship between music and drama. Come with an interest in the score, a memory of discovering the musical, or curiosity about what draws people back to this story.

Bring someone who appreciates a night that lingers long after the curtain falls. Give yourself an evening where the spectacle matches the emotion and the music stays with you on the drive home. Give this interest a theatre night of its own. Check tickets for The Phantom of the Opera at Des Moines Civic Center.
