Maybe Happy Ending - A New Musical

Maybe Happy Ending - A New Musical at Des Moines Civic Center

Oliver and Claire are two obsolete helper-bots living separate lives in their separate units until one chance encounter changes everything. Maybe Happy Ending follows what happens when two helper-bots—realize that connection might be worth the risk of disappointment. It's a musical about loneliness, hope, and the courage it takes to let someone new into your carefully controlled world. If you've ever felt stuck in your routine or wondered whether reaching out is worth the uncertainty, this story speaks directly to that feeling.

Will Aronson and Hue Park wrote the musical; Michael Arden directs. The work won the Tony Award for Best Musical, recognition that reflects the story's emotional honesty and the craft behind it. Seeing it performed live at Des Moines Civic Center on Sunday, December 6, 2026, at 6:30 PM means watching actors bring vulnerability and humor to a story that could easily feel distant but instead feels surprisingly human.

Bring someone who appreciates theater that trusts your emotions without manipulating them. Make space in your week for a story about taking the chance that connection might actually work.
