Hell's Kitchen - The Musical

Hell's Kitchen - The Musical at Des Moines Civic Center

Seventeen is an age full of questions. Ali is trying to decide which answers will be her own. Hell's Kitchen follows a 17-year-old trying to figure out who she is, what she wants, and how to speak up in a world that keeps telling her to stay quiet. It's a coming-of-age musical created and inspired by Alicia Keys, built around her music and new songs written for this musical. Wednesday, July 28, 2027, at 7:30 PM, Des Moines Civic Center becomes the backdrop for a story about growing up, speaking out, and discovering the voice that's been inside you all along.

The music alone pulls you in. Keys' catalog captures ambition, heartbreak, joy and defiance, emotions that don't need translation if you've ever been seventeen or remember what it felt like. Hell's Kitchen takes those songs and builds a story around them, one that honors the messy, beautiful process of becoming yourself. Theater works best when it mirrors something real, and this musical doesn't pretend growing up is simple or painless.

Choose a theatre night for the questions the story raises, not just familiarity with the music. If Ali’s search connects with your own memories of growing up, give it a place in your plans. Check tickets for Hell’s Kitchen at Des Moines Civic Center.
